Shortly before the real estate business began its decline, I had started a business which was dependant on the real estate industry for success. Unfortunately, when the market declined, so did my income. I own several homes as investment properties, and I found myself in a position where I was unable to meet my monthly mortgage obligations. One of the properties that constituted the largest drain on my capital was in jeopardy of being foreclosed upon. That’s when I discovered Insignia.

After an interview with Insignia, and answering a few questions regarding my financial situation, I let them go ahead and see what could be done to help me. I never expected the result that I got! Insignia actually lowered my 2^nd Mortgage rate from 3% (which was already pretty low), to 1.3%, interest-only for the next two years! 1.3%!  Then They Lowered my 1^st Mortgage from 5.125% to 3.0% for 4 Years.  Not only does this lower my payments significantly, but it allows me to continue working without having to worry about losing even more income by having a property foreclose and severely damaging my credit. I now have room to manage my business and have no doubt that with the time this modification affords me I will be able to put my money to work for me, rather than having to work toward paying off an insurmountable debt.  OH, and did I mention that I was never late on a Payment, and my house was never Upside down!

My wife and I were both going to school and working toward our dreams, with good jobs and a beautiful home, as well as a healthy child, and were looking forward to the rest of our lives when we got news that would change everything. My wife was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The resulting chaos of specialist after specialist, dangerous brain surgery, follow ups, another brain surgery and all of the things that go along with something like this, completely halted what we considered great progress toward our goals in life. During this ordeal, we became pregnant with our second child, which was an expensive, high-risk pregnancy due to my wife’s health issues. Our medical bills were astronomical.

We both had to quit school, my wife couldn’t work anymore, and I had to work side jobs, as well as sell off possessions in order to try to make ends meet. This only lasted for a short time, and then we were forced to begin living off of our credit. We maxed out all of our credit cards, took out a second mortgage, and basically fell deeper and deeper into debt. Then the housing market crashed around us. Now we were not only in extreme debt, but our home had lost most of its value, and on top of all of our medical bills we were struggling to make the monthly payment.

That’s when a friend told us about Insignia. We met with Darcy and explained our situation. He was very understanding and really listened to our situation. After talking to him, he suggested that we should try to get our loan modified. While he said that there were no guarantees, he thought he could help us lower our payments and get back on track. We gave him some basic information and he went to work, and boy did he work!

He was able to get through to the mortgage company, and in less than 60 days, had lowered our monthly mortgage payment by $600.00 per month by dropping our Rate from 6.875% Interest Only, to 2.75% on a 40yr Fixed Loan! Without Darcy and Insignia, I don’t know what would have happened, but we would have probably lost our home.  We still have a long way to go before we’re back where we need to be, but Insignia has given us a chance we didn’t think we would have, and for that we are grateful. Thank you Darcy, for all that you have done. You and your staff have given us hope again.
